Building a shared space for co-working, community, & creativity
Welcome to Shared Practice: a modular space for shared collaboration, creativity, & community. Located at 5 Devoe St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and operated by the team at Practice, Shared Practice serves as a co-working space for creatives by day and an events space by night.
As a sub-brand under Practice, Shared Practice serves as an extension of our studio’s existing visual identity.
Leveraging Practice’s playful color system and typographic palette, Shared Practice builds upon this identity by bringing in hand-drawn iconography and spirited line drawings that bring the space to life.

Incorporating Practice’s existing wordmark, the Shared Practice logotype was built to shift, adapt, and respond to its surroundings. Inspired by the concept of “making space”, the dynamism of the logotype emulates the modularity of Shared Practice’s physical space. The logotype can flex to make space for additional elements, such as spot illustrations, or take on new dimensions as needed.

We partnered with illustrator William Luz to develop a series of geometric line drawings to bring Shared Practice’s space and back-to-basics identity to life. Ranging from icons that help visitors find their way around, to line illustrations that visualize core areas of the space, these illustrations add a touch of whimsy and open interpretation to Shared Practice’s identity.

The space’s modular layout is fit for purpose, allowing it to support focused work and collaboration by day, and communal gatherings and events by night. Areas of the space can be rearranged, and collapsible furniture (built by local designer Cody Melton) flat-packed, in order to satisfy the ever-changing needs of the space.

Shared Practice and Practice's intertwined brand identities make our events easy to broadcast on social. Since opening its doors, the space has played host to a wide range of gatherings. Baby showers, book launches, community organizing workshops, even fried chicken and wine tastings; you name it, it’s probably happened here.
